belief

Belief: The mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in someone or something.

Belief means literally believing in something. When you believe in something, and no one or nothing can change the way you think about it, only if this belief no longer satisfies you. Something that humanity is incapable of understanding. Just look in any history book and you’ll come across an endless list of how people have always tried to convince others of their own beliefs and ideas. Look in the bible and how the first Christians were persecuted because they believed in Jesus. Years later when the Islam was found and people in the Arab world were (most of them) forced to believe in this new religion. What about the church splits and the conflicts between Catholics and Protestants? And if you’re a history freak (like i am) then just look around you. All those tragedies and wars and the bloodshed are only because of people intolerance for other’s beliefs. The reason why I’m writing about this because I’ve been through many situations when the strongest force their beliefs. See, my family and I had to immigrate to another country just because other people didn’t tolerate our religion and we didn’t want to change it. But it doesn’t stop here. Now whenever I’m among Protestants and Catholics all I hear is how one should or should not pray to Mary and the saints and trust me sometimes it gets so bad that i just want to scream and tell them to shut up but I’m a good girl so i just sit back and watch them being stupid. Yes, stupid and don’t understand me wrong. I’m not against embracing your religion or belief and just show the world why you believe. I actually really enjoy listening to people talking about their beliefs. For me, believing in someone or something is crucial, but you just can’t force people to believe in it too. I mean, you can always talk to them about it. There’s nothing wrong with that as long as you don’t hurt them or hurt other people feelings. But other people do have brain and they can think, just like you do. If something doesn’t satisfy them, then you can do nothing about it, right? well, other people are just incapable of understanding that. You can kill a body, but you can never enforce your thoughts. because they’re yours, not theirs.

I really hope that if you’re reading this and you know that you do that. That you try to convince people of what you believe, then think about what you’ve just read. Would you like someone to keep nagging on you to believe in something you don’t believe in? Even worse, how would you react if someone tells you to choose between your life and your belief? And of course i don’t mean to brainwash you or to change your mind, but just think about it and decide yourself.

And if you’ve ever been in such a situation, what did you do? And what do you think about it?

And if you believe in something or someone then I’d really like to know what or who is it and why do you believe in it?
